Thousands descended on Bridgend Town Centre on Saturday, 29 November for the free Christmas Lights Switch-On Event organised by Bridgend Town Council.
1,000 children graduated from the Elf School after having their faces painted, taking home an elf hat, a Christmas Decoration, a certificate and reindeer food to sprinkle outside on Christmas Eve!
The wonderful Zack Franks brought energy to the Entertainment Stage encouraging impromptu audience dancing between the amazing acts who entertained throughout the afternoon. The Snow Sisters opened the event, singing songs from Frozen, followed by Bridgend Youth Theatre, Compassion Church, Louise Halliday and The Dance Centre Academy. Oldcastle School Choir completed the entertainment with beautiful singing before The Grinch and Santa Claus himself took to the stage to turn on the lights.
Visitors to the town centre also enjoyed two giant Snow Globes, a Victorian puppet theatre, chairoplanes and Christmas themed side stalls. There were plenty of photo opportunities throughout the afternoon with superheroes and princesses as well as with the Grinch who made numerous comedic appearances.
Bridgend Town Council would like to thank everyone who participated in the event and everyone who came out to support the event and enjoyed a fantastic afternoon in the town.
